Focus of Practice

Ms. Scherwin's practice focuses on representation of banking institutions, and corporate clients in replevin and foreclosure cases, domestication of foreign judgments and collection actions.  In addition, she has represented commercial landlords in landlord/tenant disputes and transfer/assignment transactions.  Ms. Scherwin also represents these institutions, clients and landlords in Chapter 7, Chapter 13 and Chapter 11 bankruptcy cases.

Ms. Scherwin has a s trong background in the areas of creditor bankruptcy, replevin and foreclosure for banking institutions.  In addition to her creditor's rights, landlord/tenant, banking and bankruptcy background, Ms. Scherwin is experienced in representing corporate clients and law firms as local counsel in federal court cases.  Ms. Scherwin strives to work-out foreclosure actions prior to judicial sales to obtain payment for our clients without the necessity of increased attorneys fees and costs. Ms. Scherwin prides herself on client service, including the ability to handle a large case load, without compromising the quality of work for quantity.

 

 

Significant Matters

Recently, Ms. Scherwin has been involved in noteworthy cases concerning the financial industry, including, representing a major banking institution and a commercial landlord as creditors in Chapter 11 bankruptcy proceedings. Ms. Scherwin also acts as Local Counsel for out of state corporate clients and law firms in federal court. 

 

 

Community Involvement: 

Ms. Scherwin is a member of the Orange County Bar Association, as well as the Young Lawyer's Division, where she has served as the Committee Chair for the Give Kids the World Village Project.  Ms. Scherwin is also a committee member for the Young Lawyer's Charity Golf Tournament and Back Pack Project.  She has also represented low-income individuals through the Orange County Legal Aid Society's Special Wills Project in preparation of a simple will, health care designator, living will and power of attorney to persons with ADIS, ARC and who are HIV positive.
